From Our Land to Your Home
Sometimes the most meaningful ideas don't begin with a business plan. They begin with a place, a feeling and a simple wish to share it with others.
When we moved to the Algarve in 2020, we weren't looking for a new business. We were looking for a different way of living.
Surrounded by rolling hills, old olive trees and Mediterranean light, we found Quinta da Luz — a place that immediately felt like home. A year later, we opened our small boutique hotel with just eight rooms, welcoming guests from all over the world who, like us, were searching for somewhere to slow down.
Over the years, something remarkable happened.
Guests often told us that it wasn't only the peaceful setting they would remember. It was the feeling. Morning coffee on the terrace. The scent of herbs carried by a warm breeze. Long conversations over dinner. Quiet moments that somehow stayed with them long after they had returned home.
Many asked the same question before leaving:
"How can we take a little piece of this home with us?"
That question stayed with us.
Life on the Algarve has also changed the way we see nature. Living close to the land means paying attention to the seasons. It teaches patience, curiosity and appreciation for the simple things.
On our land, lavender grows alongside orange and lemon trees, pomegranates, figs, peaches, pink pepper berries, bay leaves and prickly pears. Every season offers something different, and every harvest reminds us that nature works at its own pace.
The more time we spent growing, harvesting and working with these plants, the more we discovered their beauty—not only in their fragrance and flavour, but in the small rituals they inspire.
Essência da Luz was born from those experiences.
Not as a departure from the hotel, but as a natural continuation of everything we had been creating for our guests since 2021.
Our teas, botanical mists, soaps and seasonal products are inspired by the landscape that surrounds us every day. Many ingredients come directly from our own land, while others are sourced from trusted local partners who share our appreciation for craftsmanship, quality and sustainability.
Rather than chasing trends, we prefer to create products with a clear purpose—simple, timeless and made to become part of everyday life.
Because we believe that well-being rarely comes from grand gestures.
More often, it begins with a cup of tea enjoyed without distractions. A familiar scent at the end of a long day. A quiet morning before the world asks for your attention.
Those are the moments we hope to bring into your home.
